A flagpole base is not a commodity. It is the part that decides whether a feather flag stands up in the wind, whether it can be moved when the layout changes, and whether it damages the surface it stands on. Choose the wrong family and the flag will lean, drift or tear out — no matter how good the flag itself is.
We build six families of flag bases, 34 models in total, for feather flags, beach flags, banner flags, telescopic poles and sectional flagpoles. Every family below is listed with its real weights, deployed sizes, materials and packing, so you can specify from a datasheet instead of a photograph.
One pole spec across the whole range
Nearly every base in this catalogue carries the same pole sleeve: standard 14.5–16.7 mm, with other diameters made to order.
That single number is worth more than it looks. It means a buyer can standardise on one pole diameter and draw bases from six different families without re-tooling anything — and it means a base can be re-sleeved to fit a pole you already own rather than replaced.

Rotating or fixed — the decision that matters most
Feather and banner flags need to swing to face the wind; a flag that is held rigid takes the full force side-on and leans. That is why most of our cross bases and the chrome ground spike are supplied with a rotator, and why we also sell the rotator as a separate part so a fixed base can be upgraded in the field.
When to specify fixed instead: indoor displays, wall-mounted flags, and vehicle bases where the pole must stay in one orientation.
Choosing by ground, not by weight
The mistake is to pick the heaviest base available. Weight only helps if the ground can take it:
- Grass or soil — a spike or spiral anchor beats any plate. Weight on soft ground sinks.
- Paved or hardstanding — a cross base or steel plate. Spikes will not enter and water bases can slide.
- Indoor and polished floors — cross base with rubber feet, or a water base. Bare steel plates scratch.
- No steel permitted on site, or must travel empty — water-fill base or water bag.
- Wall, column or window — wall mount bracket, in 45° or 90°.
- Vehicle — car base, in folding, rotating-sleeve or with-pole versions.
Packing that decides your freight
Base freight is volume, not weight. Water bases and bags ship empty and light — the 10 kg water bag is 180 g and the 7 kg screw-cap bag is 130 g, both packed 100 per carton at 38 × 38 × 29.5 cm. Steel plates are the opposite: dense and small. The spec table on each family page gives the deployed size and the packed size so you can price the container before you commit.
