A cross base is four folding legs and a centre sleeve. It is the default answer for a feather or beach flag on hard ground, because it folds flat for transport, needs no tools, and can be repositioned by one person.
The difference between our six models is not cosmetic: it is weight, deployed span, and whether the sleeve rotates.

Steel tube cross bases
Coated iron, rotating. Three builds, and the differences are all mechanical:

Note that the lightest model is not the thinnest tube — it is the shortest span. Leg length removes more material than wall thickness does, so span is what to compare first when weight matters, and wall thickness is what to increase when the base has to survive a brutal site.
Rotating or fixed
Rotating is the right default outdoors. The flag swings to face the wind instead of taking the load side-on, which is what keeps a feather flag upright in a gust rather than leaning out of the base.
Fixed suits indoor displays and any place the flag must hold one orientation. A fixed base can be upgraded later — we supply the rotator as a separate part that drops into the same sleeve.
Choosing by flag height, not by base weight
The deployed span matters more than the weight. A base holds a flag up because its legs extend past the flag’s centre of pressure; a heavy base with a short span will still tip.
- Small feather flags — 60 cm span, 2.2–2.65 kg
- Standard feather flags — 82–100 cm span, 3.0–3.8 kg
- Where weight must be carried by hand all day — the aluminium model at 0.7 kg, or the light steel tube
Pole sleeve
Standard 14.5–16.7 mm, with other diameters made to order. If you already own feather flag poles, send the pole diameter and we will sleeve the base to match.

Ordering
No minimum order — one piece is a valid order. Standard finishes are electrostatic powder coating and chrome plating; custom colours available. Bases can ship together with poles and banners as one consignment.
